Dementia Day Care

Our day centre supports people living with dementia and memory loss, in a safe, welcoming, and caring environment.

We offer a warm and relaxed atmosphere, offering a specialist day care service in the community, providing a full day of positive experiences for people with dementia and memory loss and a day of respite for unpaid family carers.

The group runs from our fully accessible centre in the heart of Stokesley in a comfortable and welcoming space.

Open two days a week, we have a variety of activities from gardening, discussion groups, singing and movement, craft, games and quizzes, which are tailored to individual needs. We aim to promote and maintain memory and mental function as well as providing a place to socialise, connecting people within a supportive community to increase their wellbeing.

Our compassionate and experienced staff and volunteers offer:
• Uplifting and fun activities to support a sense of purpose
• Cognitive stimulation
• Social inclusion and sense of belonging for people who are living with dementia and memory loss
• Peace of mind and respite for carers
• Signposting to other sources of support

A nutritious two-course lunch is provided, with unlimited refreshments available throughout the day.

Dementia Day Care 2

The service runs each Monday and Wednesday (excluding Bank Holidays) from 10am to 3pm. Shorter morning or afternoons sessions can be provided on arrangement, subject to availability, if this is more manageable for the person attending.

There is a daily charge for this service, but we can support you to ensure you are receiving any benefits or allowances to which you are entitled. Subject to local authority assessment, you may be eligible to receive funding from statutory services.

Dementia Day Care 3

Upon enquiry, potential attendees and their carer(s) are invited for an informal chat and to see the service in action. Before attending for the first time a short assessment is carried out at the centre to discuss the service and ensure it is suitable for the potential attendee. The confidential assessment will also gather important information about health, medication, activities the person enjoys and dietary needs. This is to ensure we provide the best possible care. Once agreed, the attendee will be introduced to the group on a free trial day basis.

Local transport on our fully accessible minibuses can be arranged, subject to catchment area.

Dementia Day Care 4

Please note, we do not provide personal care as part of the service, but it can be arranged that paid carers attend at agreed points in the day to undertake necessary personal care support if this is something the person is already receiving.
