Volunteering has many benefits, both for the volunteer and the people they support. There is so much to gain from being a volunteer, whether it be to gain more experience, meet new people, develop your skills, improve your career prospects or simply to enjoy giving back to the community.
If you have some time to offer then we would love to hear from you. Our opportunities are very flexible and you can give as much or as little time you wish. Even if you are unable to volunteer regularly, there may be ways you can get involved, such as by fundraising for us, so please get in touch.
We are currently seeking volunteers for the roles below so take a look and see if any of them might be for you:

Befriender
This service supports people who struggle to get out by providing a volunteer visitor to brighten up their day. Visits are usually an hour or so on a regular basis and involve chatting to the client and keeping them in touch with the community. For those that are able, some appreciate a short trip out with the visitor to a café or garden centre. Volunteers are carefully matched with clients by our Community Visiting Coordinator who will undertake an initial introduction.

Using your own vehicle to provide a door-to-door service for people who do not have their own car and are unable to access public transport. Destinations are mainly hospital and health appointments but may include other essential journeys.
Many of the clients using this service are elderly or need extra assistance so having a supportive volunteer can be about reassurance as much as transport. This is a flexible role in which you can choose how many journeys you are able to provide.

Shopping Volunteer
Volunteer shoppers provide support to people who are no longer able to get out and do their own shopping by delivering light shopping to their door.

It runs on a Monday and Wednesday from 10am – 3pm but much or as little time as you can offer is much appreciated.

This role involves socialising with clients, chatting with them throughout, whilst also setting and clearing the tables, serving, and washing up. This is a fantastic way to meet people in a group setting and do some volunteering in a team. Weekly commitment is not required as the service runs on a rota system

This role involves giving unpaid carers a short break by spending time sitting with the person they care for.
