Christmas Event

Christmas event

On Friday 19th December, the CCA is once again hiring the Town hall (main downstairs room) from 9am to 3pm (usually we have this room 12-3pm). As well as our usual refreshments we are looking at a Tombola and Cake stall to help significantly increase our fundraising potential.

As last year Barclays Bank are giving us “match funding” for anything we raise on the day (up to a maximum of £1000)

We are asking Volunteers to help cover the Tombola and cake stall as well as people to actually bake cakes plus if you have anything suitable for Tombola prizes we will be grateful…..drop them into the office any time.

We are also intending to hire the smaller downstairs room for the morning session, with both our own Craft Club and Stokesley Fair trade having stalls.

We hope you will be able to support this event either as a Volunteer or importantly to spend some of your money…..it’s for a good cause !

Thank you

Good Neighbour Scheme

Good Neighbour Scheme

We are just starting a new initiative in partnership with colleagues from Thirsk Community Care and Northallerton and District Voluntary Service Association. The local Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG)…. the Health Service, are providing some funding for us to develop a “Good Neighbour Scheme”.

The idea is that elderly and vulnerable adults can contact our organisation if they need some support/assistance to carry out some everyday tasks. Eg. Collect a prescription, assistance with reading post/letters, shopping or more general tasks that a “good neighbour” could carry out.

We will be publicising this service shortly but are interested to know if any of our current Volunteers would be interested in supporting this initiative…..”going that extra mile” to help their Community. Our intention is to leaflet drop the neighbourhood of anyone who needs some help and hopefully recruit some new Volunteers to assist those in need who live close by. Existing Volunteers could help tremendously, particularly in the early stages of this project.

Please contact Phil Henderson at the office if you can help.

Are you a keen walker?

Are you a keen walker?

Would you like to help us by delivering newsletters and mail to our volunteers and clients locally.

We are always looking for ways to cut our costs and provide the best service we possibly can.

The cost of postage is ever increasing and so we wondered if there were any volunteers out there who would be willing to collect post from the office and deliver to the area where you live?

We produce two newsletters during the year and occasionally send out information to our volunteers and clients – so we would not call upon you very often and would only give you post for the area you wish to cover.

If you are interested please call or email the office – if you know of anyone who you think would be interested please feel free to pass on this information to them.

Many Thanks

New Do-it Site

TO ALL ORGANISATIONS

A new Do-it site is launching at the end of September 2014 as ivo took over the management of the site in December 2013.

Instead of the Volunteer Centre uploading your opportunities to Do-it, all opportunities and applications will be handled through the new cloud-based system.

What do you need to do?

* Any existing opportunities that are registered on our system will be transferred to the new site. Contact us if you are not sure which opportunities we advertise for you at present or if you want to ensure all your details are up to date.

* It will be possible, with the new site, to manage the information for your organisation yourself. Let us know if you would prefer to do this so that we can set it up for you after the new system goes live. This opportunity will be available to you in the future and so no decision is necessary now.

* Start taking photos! The new site will make a lot more use of imagery to bring opportunities alive and encourage applications.

You can access more useful information from a Frequently Asked Questions site.  IVO Visit: http://ivo.org/ivo/posts/ivoorg-do-it-faq

Should you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact me.

On June 14th we had an information stall and our craft club stall at the Great Ayton Fete – it was a busy afternoon and we were lucky with the weather.

On June 28th we had a stall at the Hutton Rudby Summer Event – again we had information to hand out and we ran a tombola. Raising £227 for the charity.

Stokesley CCA Great Ayton Fete June 2014

Stokesley CCA Great Ayton Fete June 2014

In September we will have a stall at Stokesley Show – this is a first for us and we are really looking forward to it. The COOP has kindly offered us one of their charity stalls enabling us to be present.

The Show is on Saturday 20th September, we will be asking all our volunteers if they would be able to spare an hour or so during the day to help us man the stall – so if you are going along to the show and are able to help do let us know – we would be pleased to welcome you onto our stall.

Fundraising Update

Bag-Packing

Volunteers from Community Care spent from 10am to 3pm on the 4th December at the big coop bag-packing.

The people in Stokesley were very generous and we raised a grand total of £221.

Thanks to both the shoppers and to our volunteers.

If you can help with further bag packs or are maybe interested in helping other possible fundraising initiatives, then please get in touch with Clare, Tel 01845 523115 or e-mail clare@tscca.org.uk, or contact our office direct.

Coffee Morning

On Friday 20th December, the CCA hired the Town Hall (main downstairs room) from 9am until 3pm.  As well as our usual refreshments, we had a Tombola and a cake stall.

This event was very successful and raised a significant total.

Thank you to all volunteers who contributed, and to all who supported us by buying tickets and refreshments.

Craft Club Stall

Volunteers from the Community Care Craft Club held a stall in the Parish Church at their monthly tea/coffee and cakes morning (first Saturday in month).

We were really pleased to be able to hold our stall in the church and made over £150! A fantastic amount, which will go into the CCA funds to keep the craft club running and help all the CCA services.

The Community Care Craft Club was set up 2 years ago to help combat loneliness, we invite people to come along and enjoy craft sessions – volunteers are on hand to help. For more information give us a ring 01642 710085.
