Fundraising Update

Many thanks to everyone who was involved in our big fundraising event at the Town Hall on Friday 19th December.

From those who baked cakes, donated tombola prizes, created things for the craft stall, bought raffle tickets and who helped out throughout the day.

A huge effort all round which resulted in us raising £1165.20 .

Thanks also to Barclays Bank who have offered us their maximum £1000 of matched funding for the event…making a total of £2165.20.

A great finish to what has been a very successful year.

Thank you!

Christmas Event 19th December 2014

On Friday 19th December, the CCA is once again hiring the Town hall (main downstairs room)

from 9am to 3pm

As well as our usual refreshments we are having a Tombola and Cake Stall to help significantly increase our fundraising potential.

As last year,  Barclays Bank are giving us “match funding” for anything we raise on the day (up to a maximum of £1000)

We are asking Volunteers to help cover the Tombola and Cake Stall.  We are also asking people to bake cakes and if you have anything suitable for Tombola prizes we will be grateful…..drop them into the office any time.

We are also intending to hire the smaller downstairs room for the morning session, with both our own Craft Club and Stokesley Fair Trade having stalls.

We hope you will be able to support this event either as a Volunteer or just as importantly to spend some of your money…..it’s for a good cause !

Thank you

A Royal thank you to Stokesley and District Community Care Association

A Stokesley based charity has been named as one of just forty three recipients of a prestigious, county wide community initiative award.

The Duke of York’s Community Initiative is presented annually to a small number of Yorkshire based organisations that having been subjected to rigorous and robust scrutiny are deemed: “of real value to the community, well run and an inspiration to others.”

Stokesley and District Community Care Association was founded in 1988 to help support elderly and disabled residents by providing a number of services including transport, exercise classes, a lunch club, craft club and community visiting services.

Recently the Initiative, which was founded by His Royal Highness The Duke of York in 1998, held its annual awards ceremony at the Magna Science Adventure Centre, Rotherham during which His Royal Highness personally presented recipients of the 2014 awards with their citations.

Good Neighbour Scheme

Good Neighbour Scheme

We are just starting a new initiative in partnership with colleagues from Thirsk Community Care and Northallerton and District Voluntary Service Association. The local Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG)…. the Health Service, are providing some funding for us to develop a “Good Neighbour Scheme”.

The idea is that elderly and vulnerable adults can contact our organisation if they need some support/assistance to carry out some everyday tasks. Eg. Collect a prescription, assistance with reading post/letters, shopping or more general tasks that a “good neighbour” could carry out.

We will be publicising this service shortly but are interested to know if any of our current Volunteers would be interested in supporting this initiative…..”going that extra mile” to help their Community. Our intention is to leaflet drop the neighbourhood of anyone who needs some help and hopefully recruit some new Volunteers to assist those in need who live close by. Existing Volunteers could help tremendously, particularly in the early stages of this project.

Please contact Phil Henderson at the office if you can help.

Changes to Do-it.Org

To All Organisations

A new Do-it Website is launching at the end of September 2014 as ivo took over the management of the site in December 2013. Instead of the Volunteer Centre uploading your opportunities to Do-it, all opportunities and applications will be handled through the new cloud-based system.

What do you need to do?

* Any existing opportunities that are registered on our system will be transferred to the new site. Contact us if you are not sure which opportunities we advertise for you at present or if you want to ensure all your details are up to date.

* It will be possible, with the new site, to manage the information for your organisation yourself. Let us know if you would prefer to do this so that we can set it up for you after the new system goes live. This opportunity will be available to you in the future and so no decision is necessary now.

* Start taking photos! The new site will make a lot more use of imagery to bring opportunities alive and encourage applications.

You can access more useful information from a Frequently Asked Questions site.

Are you a keen walker?

Are you a keen walker?

Would you like to help us by delivering newsletters and mail to our volunteers and clients locally.

We are always looking for ways to cut our costs and provide the best service we possibly can.

The cost of postage is ever increasing and so we wondered if there were any volunteers out there who would be willing to collect post from the office and deliver to the area where you live?

We produce two newsletters during the year and occasionally send out information to our volunteers and clients – so we would not call upon you very often and would only give you post for the area you wish to cover.

If you are interested please call or email the office – if you know of anyone who you think would be interested please feel free to pass on this information to them.

Many Thanks
